How to Choose an EMF Consultant

It’s important to ask anyone you are considering a few questions:

1) What is their training?
The Building Biology Institute offers the only accredited (granting CEUs) EMF training program in North America where students receive hands on training from electrical engineers. Other EMF training programs are online only (no hands on training) and/or unaccredited. Many EMF consultants have no training at all or only did an online program or a 4 day unaccredited program and/or do not mention their training on their website.

2) Is there a name and identifying photo(s) of the owner of the company on their website?
Do they personally visit your home or do they send an employee without accredited training to client sites?
Find who will be coming to your home and what training they have

3) Do they live in the area?
It is important to have someone who is local to the area test your home as the sources of EMFs vary from state to state. The Chicago area has different wiring than the rest of the country so there is additional testing that needs to be done and other testing that doesn’t need to be done. I have heard from people who paid for a consultant who spent 3-4 hours testing something that didn’t need to be tested.

4) How long have they been in business?
In a field as complex as EMF testing, experience counts as the longer someone has been testing, the more likely they will come across all of the possible problems that can arise
You can check to see the history of a website at: https://archive.org/
If it doesn’t show up, then the website was only put up a few months ago.
You can scroll back on a Facebook page to see the date it was created
You can also look at dates of reviews of the business and other mentions of them on the internet

5) Is this their full time job?
Besides the length of time someone has been in business, it is also important the amount of time they are able to devote to their business. The field of EMF consulting is constantly evolving so someone who works a day job, has family obligations or illness preventing them from devoting 60 hours a week to their business simply won’t be able to keep up with the amount of knowledge in the field.

6) How long will the evaluation be?
A typical home takes 3-5 hours to test all of the basics. .

7) What type of equipment do they have?
While someone can get a very basic amount of equipment for only $1000, a good consultant will have $15,000 or more in equipment plus their investment for all of the accredited Building Biology trainings All business owners have a choice in how to spend their earnings, some people use the money to buy more equipment while others focus on flashy marketing instead.
