Over the past few years, I have noticed the quality of food in the area to have gone downhill, even if it is labelled organic. What many people don’t realize is that food at the grocery store is often weeks old. And most vendors at farmers markets aren’t even selling food from their farm, just food that has been resold. Even for farmers who are selling their own food, the meat is always frozen and now many farmers aren’t even growing produce in soil or under the sun. Food that is grown hydroponically or on some sort of coconut or sterile sawdust medium is not that same as food grown in soil but more food producers are doing it that way so they can say that their food isn’t grown with chemicals as that method makes it easier to do without using chemicals. Even food grown in soil in planters isn’t as good as food grown in the ground which is healthier for the same reason it is healthier for people to walk barefoot on the ground. And food grown under LED lights is totally different than food grown under sunlight. Again, just like it is healthier for people to spend time in the sun and not under LED lights.
So I have been gathering up links of places to buy high quality organic food besides the local chain grocery stores.
NATURE’S LUNCH BOX
A farm in Wisconsin that delivers through Farmmatch
They have:
-fresh grassfed beef that has never been frozen or had mildewcides added to it (yes, they are added to all packaged meat, even if labelled organic). As far as I know, there isn’t any readily available source of this in our area
-raw A2 dairy (for many people, A2 is less allergenic than the more common A1, raw is less allergenic than pasteurized)
-raw ferments (sauerkraut, kimchi and other naturally fermented vegetables without vinegar or citric acid)
-eggs
-vegetables
-maple syrup
They only sell stuff that is truly fresh so they do not have everything every week but you know that what you get is fresh.
In order to see the products and prices on the website, you need to create a free account. It will take about 24 – 48 hours to be approved after which you will be able to see all of the food (not just the vegetables). You then can log in during the ordering window on Wednesdays and Thursdays to place an order. Orders need to be placed by 11 PM Thursday for pickups on Tuesday morning (or late Monday night) at various locations in the city, north and west suburbs.
They sell through farmmatch (a food distribution network they created to connect consumers across the country with high quality food) and you get a 10% discount on your first order if you use my link.

Depending on your zip code, there will be different choices available. Vintage Meadows is another popular farm: they have a wider variety of meat (although it is frozen) and produce and high end breads.
AZURE
You can buy organic food in bulk off of the Azure truck:
They have:
- organic fruits and other food not available from local farms in our area
-organic raw and sprouted nuts
-organic olives and pickles that aren’t preserved in vinegar
-Baja gold, the ultimate sea salt
and many other hard to find items along with the typical organic staples
Deadline for the next order for customers in the Midwest is Tuesday, November 19th at 6:00 PM
When you go to the bottom of the page, look under “join in” and click on “find a drop” for more information on the one closest to you.
